It assumes that the privatization of space is a future choice to be made, rather than the inevitable conclusion of a geopolitical framework that treats the vacuum of space as the ultimate frontier for capital accumulation.

In reality, they are seeking the total deregulation of an environment where the absence of a social contract allows for the imposition of a corporate one. They do not want to go to the Moon to liberate humanity; they want to go to the Moon to escape the regulatory burdens and social overhead that centuries of labor struggle have forced upon capital on Earth.
The paradox here is sharp: the more we treat space as a sacred, neutral territory, the more we invite a "tragedy of the commons" enacted by whoever moves fastest.
